Provides volunteer opportunities involving practical training, biodiversity surveys and community projects.

British Trust for Ornithology (Scotland)

Designs and implements volunteer wild bird surveys. Runs BTO surveys in central Scotland.

Butterfly Conservation (Scotland)

Provides advice about butterflies and moths for the general public and monitors the state of rare species.

A school programme that promotes environmental awareness through the curriculum. It is also an award scheme that recognises three levels of group achivement.

Jupiter Urban Wildlife (SWT Grangemouth)

The Centre sells wildflower seeds and plugs. Staff provide advice on habitat creation, garden design, planting schemes, composting and wildflower propagation.

Mammal Society

Provides advice and current news on all issues affecting British Mammals.

National Trust for Scotland

Provides educational and volunteering opportunities at NTS properties. Contact the Local Groups for information on current projects.

Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (Central Scotland)

Advice on birds and their habitat requirements. Leaflets and school packs are available on a variety of conservation issues.

Scottish Agricultural College

Farmers and landowners can phone for advice on farming with wildlife and RSS applications.

Scottish Badgers

Monitors badger numbers, including road mortalities, and offers training and advice on their management.

Scottish Environment Protection Agency

Responsible for safeguarding water quality - call 0800807060 to report a pollution incident.

Scottish Natural Heritage

Advice on protected species and habitats (e.g. SSSIs and SPAs). Provides grants to promote environmental awareness.

Scottish Native Woods

Provides management advice to woodland owners and tenants by surveying woodlands, preparing management plans, helping to secure grants, supervising contracts and monitoring progress.

Scottish Water

Scottish Water (replaced North,West and East of Scotland Water) provides water and waste water services to households and businesses. Environmental campaigns include Bag It and Bin It - Don’t Flush It and Clean Coast Scotland.
